Camp Registrar

Full Time     Seasonal (3/08-8/08)     Charlestown Office

We are seeking an individual who has a commitment to customer service and detailed work.

Duties: Process and enter data into camp registration data base. Provide information,forms and regisration materials to customers via telephone, email and mail. Various office duties such as filing, copies, mailings, etc. also included.

Qualifications: Ability to use computer technology and programs successfully. Must be able to use Windows programs including Outlook, Word and Excel. Experienced in providing excellent customer service. Ability to work independently, flexible, resourceful and communicative.

Program Director

Full-Time    Exempt    Charlestown Office

Seeking a charismatic, talented leader to direct our summer camp and manage our out of school time programs during the academic year. A self motivated and flexible individual with expertise and a passion for youth and camping programs will be an ideal fit for our agency. The ideal candidate will deliver Camp Fire USA’s mission for developing caring, confidence and leadership skills in youth. Our agency has a strong commitment to building inclusive communities, experiential education, team work and fun.

Duties: Camp responsibilities include overall camp leadership; staff management; camper recruitment; and program direction and evaluation. School year responsibilities include supervision of after school programs and staff and some facilitation of after school programs. Our small agency fosters, supports and incorporates staff member’s ideas, strengths and initiatives. During the first 6 months of the position will include succession planning with current staff and supervisor.

This position is a new position that will combine previous seasonal positions into a full time year round exempt position. Site locations are Boston, Quincy and East Otis, MA.

Our overnight summer camp celebrated her 40th birthday this past year and is home to an alumni and volunteer community. Our camp serves a diverse economic and racial population from Massachusetts and beyond. Our traditional camp programs include athletics, waterfront, creative arts and general camp activities. Our small camp community serves approx. 110 campers a day in an atmosphere of a co educational community. Many of our campers are between the ages of 11-16. Our campers and staff have around a 70% retention rate. 34 staff including year round camp ranger and contracted cooking staff would be managed by director.

Qualifications: Ideal applicant will possess great public relations skills; ability to communicate via oral and written presentations; leadership skills; humor; project and activities planning; detail oriented; supportive of inclusiveness; and decision-making skills.

A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, camp management, youth work, child care, or related field is highly desired. At least 24 years of age with five years experience instructing school aged youth. A minimum of three years of camp management is also needed. Vehicle (or easy access to) is required.
