Camp Ponkiwanee offers youth age 5-13 an outdoor based day camp experience on Maquan Pond in Hanson, MA.
Our caring, experienced, mature, well trained staff will give your children a summer full of fun, friendship, and new experiences.
The mission of Camp Ponkiwanee is to provide a quality summer program promoting understanding, integrity, community, awareness, self expression, and leadership for a diverse population of youth. The goal of Camp Ponkiwanee is to create a safe, welcoming community in which our campers learn and grow through enriching and challenging activities each day.
Campers spend their day outdoors in small co-ed groups of similar age under the supervision of a college aged senior counselor (18+) and a high school (16+) assistant. Campers also have access to our senior staff who are regularly part of activities and get to know all of the campers.
Research shows participation in quality summer programming such as Camp Ponkiwanee help youth bridge the summer loss of learning by keeping their minds engaged and learning new skills. Activities for campers include swimming, swim lessons, boating, cooperative games, sports, creative arts, nature exploration and education, hiking, camp skills, and singing. Youth are also able to choose from a variety of choose your own adventure clubs that meet several times over the course of the session. Each themed session also features opportunities for performance, and a theme day with special activities.
At Camp Fire USA we take great pride in our diverse, enthusiastic, and caring staff. Before becoming a member of our staff each individual goes through an in depth interview process including background checks and written references. Staff members are carefully selected based on their experience working with children, leadership qualities, and their ability to be positive role models. All staff members participate in an intensive training program and all are certified in first aid and CPR.
